This advanced lab offers staff and students excellent equipment and facilities for research into the properties, processing and performance of biomaterials. The innovative work here involves both polymeric and ceramic biomaterials. The researchers are interested in using these biomaterials for orthopaedic, anti-cancer, cardiovascular and urological applications.

As MSE constantly keeps its research relevant to the industry, some of the extensive work carried out in this lab is done in collaboration with major health institutions in Singapore. Such groundbreaking work covers drug delivery and heart stents. Some of the sophisticated systems available in the lab include the High-Performance Liquid Chromatography and Size Exclusion Chromatography.
