This sophisticated lab houses a wide range of thermal, electrical, and mechanical characterization facilities for staff and students. Here, researchers are involved in two major research areas, one involving bioceramics and the other, defence materials.
Users are able to enjoy access to a stable of cutting-edge equipment. They include the simultaneous thermal analyser, which allows for the application of two or more techniques to a single sample. An example is the simultaneous thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry.
Other advanced equipment include the high temperature dilatometer and the accelerated surface area and porosimetry system (ASAP 2020), which measures surface area and gas porosimetry.
