Inter-disciplinary research is emphasized, involving faculty from other schools within NTU and overseas research institutes and universities. Industry-sponsored research is active, with research grants being offered by a variety of Singapore and worldwide industrial concerns. The School has research collaborations with some local institutions and world-class organizations.

The School provides rigorous
training programmes to equip graduate students with
basic research competency and instrument skills for
state-of-the-art characterization and analysis
facilities. Graduate students can pursue their
research interest in nanomaterials, biomaterials,
materials characterization, polymer electronics and
defence materials.
